rise and fall

rise and fall

"Playgirl magazine's 'Men of Enron' issue hit newsstands on September 17, 2002 and five current or former male employees of the bankrupt energy trader shed all or most of their clothes for a 14-page photo spread called 'The Rise of Enron.' "

Heh.

So this was the best they could do?
Someone slap me, I thought the tie and drawlz look went out with the Chippendale's.

I've never caught myself telling past flames,

"Hey honey why don't you just wear a tie that's too long or too short, suck in your beer gut and don a pair of shapeless white cotton things to turn me on."

It's too bad my subscription to Playgirl ran out a few lifetimes ago. I may not be able to sleep after seeing this photo.
Nightmares, of course.

I guess Enron had nothing more to offer, c'est dommage.
While scanning the photo for something redeeming I can't help but wonder what's with the saggy diapers? Perhaps the editors are familiar with my favorite quote from "The Real Blonde:"

Joe:
Hey Mary, look at this, look at this woman’s underwear. See how it’s all sleek and lacy, how it accentuates every part of her body and presents it like a beautiful piece of candy?
…compare that to men’s underwear which is white, cotton and shapeless – essentially a diaper. What do you think that’s saying?

Mary:
All men are babies?”

Calvin Klein boxer ads are one (very hot) thing, but this is Playgirl. Maybe I'm being too particular. I mean if Playboy featured "real" looking women maybe I'd see this as equality. I'm all for featuring folks in magazines who are realistically shaped and all. That would be nice.

But I'm sure the photo editors are saying something. What I think they are saying is "men don't have to be as impossibly perfect as women to be sex symbols." They didn't even bother to airbrush the dark circles from their eyes or give the pasty guy a healthy tan.

I'm pretty sure that same pasty skinny guy used to be a dateless network administrator at my old software company. Are these guys sexy? About as sexy as the girl who sits next to you at the office and burps when she eats lunch in her cubicle. About as sexy as the woman in the office that everyone whispers "needs to get laid. Badly."

I guess unemployment ran out for these guys. Oh cry me a river. Let's talk about being unemployed for over a year.
Or maybe Enron just had hotter women than they did men.
