luckiest girl in hollywood
luckiest girl in hollywood
Tom Hanks may be the "Nicest Guy in Hollywood" but yesterday afternoon, I was the "Luckiest Girl in Hollywood." I got to have lunch with the very charming and svelte Doc Searls at my favorite lunch spot, Pane e Vino.
We were seated outside on the garden patio when I overheard the table next to us whispering,
Guy #2:
That's MOXIE, stupid!!
I tried not to chuckle as Doc admitted that he was one of the only ones at the conference who actually lives in the "digital" world. One could count the number of laptops at discussion sessions on one hand. We've officially renamed the conference "Digital Hollywood? A glance at the future." Of course to see the future all they needed to do was look at Doc.
I'm hitting the exhibit hall tomorrow, but I consider myself forewarned.
The last trade show I attended was for Spas and Aestheticians. There's nothing like a bunch of 20-something wrinkled sun-damaged chicks trying to sell you a 100 dollar vial of inert ingredients to make you young again. It makes me want to ask them candidly, "If that shit really worked, why didn't you bother to use it?" To be honest, I don't want to be young again. Once was enough. I'm enjoying my Thirties.
Anyway, the Doc is chock full of great stories, sage advice and humor. Be sure to ask him about his insect corralling techniques. If I haven't said it enough before, I'll happily say it again -- this is one terrific guy. Thanks Doc!!
