the end of birthday week

farrah

After a poor attempt at losing my keys, glasses and car(s) I reluctantly dropped Steve H. off at the airport this afternoon.

We convinced him to stay one extra day but two was pushing it.

I also tried to feign confusion about how to get to LAX but sadly, he knew me well enough to entertain my antics as well as plan lots of extra time and nice things to say in advance as I drove him in a round-about manner towards his destination airport.

Just heard from Mr. Steve and he has arrived safely in the Holy City of Coral Gables.

The bad news is, we miss him.
A lot.

The good news is, I don't have to feel like a freak by checking his website constantly while he is visible -- sitting on my couch blogging, laughing and commenting on blogs.

And with his departure, my birthday week is over.

No event is complete without credits.

In no partictular order...

Thanks to:

the Sunshine God, the Mondrian, Farrah our Reagan-loving armless bouncer, Aaron, PatioPundit & lovely daughter, Sara Grace, Ann and Henry, Saxxman, Cameraman, Kalipornia, my loving gay houseboy, Rocky, the Grumpy Honky, Brandy, Chris, David, Gary, Steve H., Karyn, Trevor, Rosalie, Celinda, the Hoopty, the Outie, Slick Willy and especially Zack and Zoe. And all the folks I was far too drunk to remember showing up!

Love the t-shirt!

Posted by: McGehee at January 20, 2005 5:14 AM

/me is actually a bigger fan of the legs than the t-shirt.

Posted by: Mad William Flint at January 20, 2005 10:43 AM

Yes, the option to click for a larger image would be nice also.

Posted by: Karl at January 20, 2005 10:49 AM

It also occurs to me that the capitalist in Mox must surely realize the potential for product placement or spokesmodeling for BlogAds as a revenue stream.

Posted by: Karl at January 20, 2005 10:52 AM

That IS a clothing dummy....isn't it?

Posted by: Gahrie at January 20, 2005 11:45 AM

"That IS a clothing dummy....isn't it?"

I have a Firefox plugin that lets me zoom the pic. That is definitely a plastic face, since I seriously doubt Moxie would resort to botox.

Posted by: McGehee at January 20, 2005 3:13 PM

Sounds like a great week.

What did that pervert Slick Willie do with the mannequin's arms?

Posted by: MartiniPundit at January 20, 2005 3:37 PM

Slick Willy humped her arms off.

And yes folks. It is a mannequin. Her name is Farrah and she was our bouncer.

Posted by: Moxie at January 20, 2005 3:41 PM

Which contradicts my assessment of Slick as a hound dog. A hound dog would've humped her leg.

Posted by: McGehee at January 20, 2005 4:12 PM

He did that too McGeehee. But her legs were no match for his flabby physique and weak heart. He may be an asshole, but he's no fool.

Lewinski?

Posted by: bongthegong at January 20, 2005 11:44 PM

Never sure quite where to put things on this blog, especially anything substantive, given the incredible lightness of everything posted by Moxie the Coulter Clone and her pack of Masturbating Jackals, so here is as good as any:

Yesterday's Yahoo News lead headline read: Bush Vows To End Tyranny.

Isn't it bad form to resign on hi first day in office, even if the cold reflection upon past sins has finally become too much for even someone as heartless as the self-made ignoramus currently known as Mr. President?

(Insert knee-jerk rabid RW comments about Bill Clinton here:

You think Bush is a tyrant? You don't think he has a democratically-elected mandate? If you despise Bush, then I wonder how you feel about one of the nation's greatest war-time presidents ever....Lincoln.

If you think the Patriot Act is bad, then you must have forgotten the time when Lincoln ignored the Supreme Court and suspended Habeas Corpus.(http://www.civil-liberties.com/pages/did_lincoln.htm)

Look at Lincoln's mandate(popular vote) in 1864(http://www.u-s-history.com/pages/h201.html). Then, compare Bush's mandate to Lincoln's.

Bush is heartless? No way. I saw some Fox News special the other day that showed Bush almost lost his composure on camera after 9/11: (http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/2001/09/14/stories/01140001.htm). If that doesn't convince you, then maybe this will: (http://www.heroeswest.com/Pres-Hug.htm).

Besides, someone that is fond of Clinton shouldn't be labeling Bush as "heartless" after looking at this "compassionate" liberal case study: (http://www.preventtruthdecay.com/mainmiscfuneral.htm).

Bush is an ignoramus? Are you one of those gobshites that subtract 100 IQ points from anyone that speaks with a Southern accent?

Posted by: Jonny Swift Eats Babies(w/ rabies) at January 21, 2005 10:24 AM

Well, that proves my point about the ability to get a larger picture being desirable. I guess I'l have to download Firefox.

Nevertheless, my point about those business opportunities for Mox remains valid.

Hey, Jerkov: for your information, the tyrant is the guy who gasses his own people and feeds dissidents into a plastic shredder.

Four more years, DOWN YOUR THROAT!

Posted by: Steve H. at January 21, 2005 12:03 PM

You folks are as predictable as a sunrise. Down my throat? My dear Mr. H., I wouldn't let you near my throat. Or, likely, any other part of my body. But just to show you I'm not a poor sport, this one's for you:

Dear President Bush:
Congratulations on your victory over all us non-evangelicals. Actually,
we're a bit ticked off here in California, so we're leaving. California
will now be its own country. And we're taking all the Blue States with
us. In case you are not aware, that includes Hawaii, Oregon,
Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, and all of the
Northeast.
-----------------------------------------------------
We spoke to God, and She agrees that this split will be beneficial to
almost everybody, and especially to us in the new country of
California. In fact, God is so excited about it, She's going to shift
the whole country at 4:30 pm EST this Friday.
----------------------------------------------------
Therefore, please let everyone know they need to be back in their
states by then. So you get Texas and all the former slave states.
--------------------------------------------------
We get the Governator, stem cell research and the best beaches. We get
Elliot Spitzer. You get Ken Lay. (Okay, we have to keep Martha Stewart,
we can live with that.) We get the Statue of Liberty. You get OpryLand.
We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom. We get Harvard. You get
Ole Miss. We get 85% of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.
You
get all the technological innovation in Alabama. We get about
two-thirds of the tax revenue, and you get to make the red states pay
their fair share. Since our divorce rate is 22% lower than the
Christian coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a
bunch of single moms to support, and we know how much you like that.
Did I mention we produce about 70% of the nation's veggies? But heck
the only greens the Bible-thumpers eat are the pickles on their Big
Macs.
-----------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, another thing, don't plan on serving California wine at your
state dinners. From now on it's imported French wine for you. Ouch, bet
that hurts. Just so we're clear, the country of California will be
pro-choice and anti-war. Speaking of war, we're going to want all Blue
States citizens back from Iraq. If you need people to fight, just ask
your evangelicals. They have tons of kids they're willing to send to
their deaths for absolutely no purpose. And they don't care if you
don't show pictures of their kids' caskets coming home.
--------------------------------------------------
Anyway, we wish you all the best in the next four years and we hope,
really hope, you find those missing weapons of mass destruction.
Seriously.
--------------------------------------------------
Sincerely,
California

Upon reflection, I think I understand Steve H.'s wish to do things to men's throats, after checking out the boyish legs on our Mox.

As for the not-so-swift Jonny (could your missing "H" be the one Steve uses?): I don't find "IQ" to be a meaningful measure of intelligence. If you knew the history of intelligence testing, you'd know that Binet developed the test not to rank order the entire population (with the concomitant gloating and shame that keeps the American penchant for knowing "Who's #1?" fully fueled), but rather to identify early children who needed extra attention in school. Period. So, no, I don't deduct for Southern accents or skin color or even political affiliation. I have no doubt, for example, that Wiliam F. Buckley is a very intelligent person.

But GWB is simply ignorant. (And note that I didn't call him stupid, though he IS that as well. Ignorant is far scarier in a president, however, especially when the person in office brags about not holdin' with no book learnin'). He's deluded. He can't admit his many egregious errors. In sum, he is a simpleton. But then, he doesn't run things. Never has, never will. He's a suit, one that the American people narrowly chose over Kerry, and DIDN'T choose, you may recall, over Al Gore. It's a bit scary to think that two of the last three GOP presidents were embarrassingly stupid, as was one of its last three vice presidents (you do remember Dan "It's terrible not to have a mind" Quale, don't you?)

The current suit in the White House is embarrassing. Even if he ever came up with a policy that wasn't about destroying the middle class and stepping even harder on the backs of the poor in this country (or, perhaps to be more accurate, about enriching his cronies), be that a needless phony war in Iraq (as opposed to actually catching the bad guys who are now likely in Pakistan and, oh, every Middle Eastern country from whom we buy all that nice oil, especially Saudi Arabia), the dismantling of fundamental freedoms to the extent that any classical conservative must have to hold his or her nose to pull a lever for Dubya, destroying social security with another wave of terrorism (as in, terrorizing the American people with a crisis that doesn't exist, just like all those nifty color warnings. Got to like the latest scare in Boston, predicated apparently by some pissed-off guy ratting out immigrants who wouldn't pay him his blood money for helping them get into the country), ad nauseum and seemingly ad infinitum, every time he opens his mouth, literate Americans cringe. I realize that leaves out most contributors to this list, but there are some on the Right who can actually write. And speak. And they must want to stuff their ears like Placido Domingo at a William Hung concert when old Dubya says "nucular" and in general butchers our native tongue.

So you think the man is bright? It's okay to like him even though you know he's stupid (hey, we all have to have some sympathy and affection for the mildly mentally impaired, after all), but to suggest that he is in Bill Clinton's or Jimmy Carter's intellectual league (not to mention someone like Mario Cuomo) is taking one bullet too many for the team. You lose credibility with anyone who functions at a higher intellectual level than moss (and I don't mean Randy). Admit it: many Americans just aren't comfortable with smart people. They like Dubya precisely because he is so obviously stupid and so unashamedly proud of it. Because he's stiff necked angry, and can't speak a decent lick o' English, hates people who read and think, hates all those darned cultured Europeans, and always gets his way. Just like the giant adolescent he is. Just like so many of his fans, supporters and apologists.

Now excuse me: I think I hear Steve H. trying to decide if he prefers my throat to some part of Moxie's anatomy.

Posted by: Markov Chaney at January 21, 2005 6:58 PM

Jerkoff, many blue states soldiers are happy to serve their country, and would never leave Iraq until the job is done. Go to www.republicanandproud.com for some totally kick-ass pictures of grateful Iraqis with smiling troops.

Posted by: perfectd at January 21, 2005 7:02 PM

"You get Ole Miss."

That's not really an insult to us. Ole Miss has an accredited engineering program, a good law school(ask John Grisham), a quality medical school, and Archie Manning's cryogenically-frozen DNA.

"We get 85% of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs."

HA! That won't last when you get another socialist dingbat like Gray Davis to run all of the capitalist high rollers out of there. You are so blinded by your hubris that you fail to grasp that over 40 percent of the popular vote in the blue states went to Bush. Guys like Donald Trump didn't vote for Kerry and your quote about keeping Intel and Microsoft on the liberal bandwagon is a joke:

Before all is said and done, you would need a Berlin Wall to keep all of the entrepreneurs within your stifling socialist borders.

"You
get all the technological innovation in Alabama."

I don't find this offensive(if that was your intent) either. Huntsville's Redstone Arsenal is one of the key locations Von Braun used to develop rockets for the space program.

"Since our divorce rate is 22% lower than the
Christian coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families."

The only reason blue states have a lower divorce rate is because they usually don't get married since they abort their unwanted pregnancies. On the other hand, red states usually have a shotgun wedding instead and bring the unplanned pregnancy to term before getting divorced. It's true, we have a higher divorce rate, but at least we don't kill our kids to stay single.

"From now on it's imported French wine for you.Ouch, bet that hurts."

No, we have other more American-friendly winery alternatives in Texas, Italy, etc.

"If you need people to fight, just ask your evangelicals."

You might be onto something there. Alvin York, Stonewall Jackson, and Audie Murphy were religious badasses afterall. Unfortunately, you assume that the religious folks are the only ones that have a stake in this war. You're going to be unpleasantly surprised someday when Zarqawi comes up to you and tells you to suck his minaret while murmuring "ulluhu ukbrr".

"Just so we're clear, the country of California will be pro-choice and anti-war."

That's nice to hear. Like the Swiss, I'm sure the Islamists will share the same values and leave you alone to live in harmony with the rest of your fellow moonbats. Cheers. ;^)

Hey Jerkov,

That is a mannequin. But I wouldn't expect a liberal like you to be able to tell the difference, much like I wouldn't expect you to be able to read.

But carry on now Libzilla, and enjoy the next eight (maybe 12) years of conservative Presidents.

Cheers.

mox, it took me a second to discern that it was a mannequin. first giveaway were the legs. yours are so very much nicer. then the lack of arms was the big clue.

maybe the asstard has his head in the sand like the rest of the blue staters?

and um, i'm actually a little scared that you have a mannequin.

No follow up visits necessary.Of course you wont be able to reconize any family members but with your DNA thats probably a blessing.

Nah, I think TEST is some guy that probably made some long assed screed against Markov's last post, but ended up growing impatient with waiting for his post to show up on the thread. He probably thought Moxie's blogging software had a glitch or bug in the system, so he probably made a test post to make sure everything was on the up and up. It's a bit scary to think that two of the last three GOP presidents were embarrassingly stupid, as was one of its last three vice presidents …[no he’s not talking about “the inventor of the Internet”]

You know what I love about George W. Bush Jr. … ?

He looks like the biggest loser in the world – at a glance, you would never expect this guy to win anything – but in reality, he wins everything he attempts.

It’s almost as if the very laws of Physics themselves were in league with this Individual.

I swear … it must drive the fricking Liberals (i.e. "the Secularists") absolutely crazy!

I'm back for part 2 of 2.

*as opposed to actually catching the bad guys who are now likely in Pakistan and, oh, every Middle Eastern country from whom we buy all that nice oil, especially Saudi Arabia*

So, the terrorists are only in countries that are either trading partners or allies? Iran is so relieved to be marked off your list. What are you proposing? An invasion of Saudi Arabia? Do you think these countries will voluntarily let our troops operate within their territory to capture/kill their citizens?

*destroying social security with another wave of terrorism*

No, the trillion-dollar ponzi scheme(sinkhole) has been on the path to self-destruction since its inception due to excessive government waste and spending(and partly due to the declining birthrate(abortion) of potential taxpayers).

*as in, terrorizing the American people with a crisis that doesn't exist, just like all those nifty color warnings.*

If you're saying Bush made up the SS crisis, then you are giving kudos to the wrong person.

http://www.wsws.org/news/1998/dec1998/soc-d09.shtml

OMG, it's a 1ink to the Wor1d Socialist Web Syt! Maybe I can find a Gore "lockbox" quote while I'm at it. If you were actually referring to Bush making up the War on Terror crisis, then....(head explodes).

* It's okay to like him even though you know he's stupid, but to suggest that he is in Bill Clinton's or Jimmy Carter's intellectual league is taking one bullet too many for the team.*

Suggesting that [Carter,Clinton > Bush] is taking one mushroom too many. Sure, Bush is no nucul4r physicist, but he gets the job done well nevertheless. I wonder how smart Kerry's booty buddies, Chirac and Schroeder, are feeling after reading the news on Bloomberg.

http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000006&sid=aJbHV2PBGRss&refer=home

I can't wait to see how these two will try to squirm their way out of an electoral lynching when they are up for re-election again. Maybe they can pander to the anti-American Left in their constituencies again.

*hates all those darned cultured Europeans*

See above. Bush doesn't hate them. He's just unimpressed with them. All of the "cultured" Europeans that I've seen on the forums sound just like any other leftist troll that I've encountered. I'm not impressed either.

"Foreign fighters have a high degree of respect for the training of U.S. soldiers. When a Chechen commander was killed, his diary revealed interesting notes of comparison between fighting the U.S., versus the Russians. The Chechen commander’s diary implied that, “when you take out the Russian leader, the unit stops and mills about, not sure of what to do next. ... But when you take out a U.S. leader, somebody always and quickly takes his place with no loss of momentum. A squad leader goes down, it may be a private that steps up to the plate before they can iron out the new chain or command.” What had impressed the Chechen commander was that “the private knows what the hell he is doing ... No need to fret about the quality of our troops from O-3 on down.”
