death is imminent
I'm now convinced. My housekeeper is trying to kill me.
While complaining to me about the heat and dramatically wiping her brow, she was simultaneously tucking flannel sheets (and a winter blanket) into the corners of my bed.
Later, I found ONE sponge in the kitchen sink.
Don't think I am weird, but not being a liberal, I like to clean my sink surfaces with one sponge, and use yet another for plates, bowls and silverware.
This would not be a HUGE issue had I not found "cleaned" silverware in the drying rack directly touching the cat litter sifter, also newly cleaned of feline feces.
I could go on -- shall I?
As a parting gift, the toilet brush and canister is frequently left on the sink right next to toothbrushes, hand towels and soap.
Granted mouths aren't much cleaner than asses, especially when you use utentils cleaned with a germ-filled sponge also used to purge a plastic thing of cat poop, but let's not tempt fate.
Pardon me, while I boil my belongings.
STILL IMPORTANT: please comment here as I am updating my blogroll by week's end...starting from scratch.

Time for a new housekeeper. Remember verify citizenship.

I too struggled with the less than satisfactory habits of a brown colored maid. That is, until I discovered that hot white maids aren't as rare as you might think. I've discovered the joys of having english speaking (ok she's more of a house keeper) domestic help, there's no reason that you shouldn't too. She's punctual, consistant, follows direction and, even if she does a lousy job sometimes, I'm sure she looks better than Antonio Villaraigosas wife would cleaning my house. She cleans my store twice a month as well, yesterday I called her to warn her that a squirrel had perished inside one of the walls about a week ago. It's beginning to smell pretty bad so I was going to tell her to forgo cleaning until the festering squirrel corpse had been removed by the landlord or pest control or whoever. She was already there (she cleans on SUNDAYS), no problem she insisted, she had opened two doors to get a draft and was about cleaning the place, just doing a job that I couldn't find a Mexican to do. I love her so much, tho I would consider sharing her with you M, maybe she could train Conchita in the finer points of house cleaning in the U.S.A.

Maybe she is part of a mass plot to unseat the Republican majority through the use of biological warfare and unsophisticated delivery systems?

Um, ew.
Make sure the water is clean, Mox.

Sounds like its time to refer maid to I.C.E. washing the cat poop scooper with the same sponge as the siverware has to be a deportable offense.

I dunno......I think that bucket-full-'o-torn-rags thingy some housekeepers always use scares me more than one sponge.
And afterwards, those heaps 'o dirty filthy rags always leave streaks of hair in the washing machine that never seem to resemble anything that could've come off your person.

Bathroom sponges and buckets and kitchen sponges and buckets must ALWAYS be kept TOTALLY separate! The bathroom sponge should never even visit the kitchen to say hello, and vice versa.
My Esperanza does a good job I think, if you're looking for a new cleaning lady, and she's always cheerful and very nice.

Ok...so I've been thinking this over in my mind for a few minutes.
Moxie, I am an adoring fan, you know that. At the risk of being slashed by your sharp, insightful tongue...being a working mother of two boys (10 and 12), I must ask this question.
Why are you not doing these things for yourself? (please don't slaughter me for asking)

Why are you not doing these things for yourself?
bwahahahahah.... oh honey.... moxie's not mexican...

bwahahahahah.... oh honey.... moxie's not mexican
And you think that I am?
Posted by: Jamese at August 15, 2006 12:04 PM
no. not with a name like jamese. but perhaps you work yourself too hard in the name of martyrdom. you've heard "time is money," yes? i suppose you figure your time only worth that of a maid.
Posted by: kali at August 15, 2006 12:36 PM
I don't work myself too hard and I certainly don't consider myself a martyr. Simply, a woman with a question for MOXIE...not a woman waiting for rude comments from you kali, presuming to know what I figure my time to be worth.

Hey now...at the risk of having any of you lovely ladies rip me a new one...lighten up. Mox...I kinda assumed that the 'maid' was one of your characters, designed to get us all riled...sure worked this time. Kali: Might not want to judge the worth of a person by choices they make, rather, judge them by how they stand by those choices. And Jamese: Back in the kitchen where you belong woman!!!!

Oh fer chrissake so where did the OTHER sponge go? Don't tell me you have a housecleaner who steals sponges instead of the silverware.
Posted by: Gunny at August 15, 2006 7:46 PM
Gahhd I HATE that. I'm working for people that are sooooogreeeen they don't believe in paper towels. Never mind the "hand towel" is so rife with cherms it's a bacillary basilica.
Yuckitacious!

stonemason by your measure hitler and che guevara were laudable human beings.
Posted by: kali at August 16, 2006 6:56 AM
Well now Kali, interesting that I am compared to mass murdering historical figures simply by having a little fun with my wife, but you...who slurred not only the entire female population of Mexico, but called into question the self-worth of someone who takes care of themselves, seem to get away scot free.
Once again, at the risk of mis-reading stuff, lighten up folks. Kali, you snapped to a judgment of a poster, without really thinking about it, and then fell back on ad hominem attacks...please understand, I never use a 'sarc' tag, never 'jk', because I always assume that thinking folk will go back into the archives and learn a little about me before ripping me.
Moxie's site is way too tongue in cheek for this kind of rhetoric anyway....
Posted by: stonemason at August 16, 2006 10:16 AM
ok ok you got me tongue in cheek ha ha.
dood lighten up the first comment i made was total tongue in cheek, duh it was your prissy little missy that got her panties in a bunch.
also in the effort of full disclosure i never once compared you to a mass murderer.
Posted by: kali at August 16, 2006 10:55 AM
Jamese, Kali is right, my time is money.
It's smarter for me to hire a housekeeper for 10 bucks an hour, than to clean the house myself and lose a couple hundred bucks per hour of photo work.
Posted by: Moxie at August 16, 2006 12:55 PM
Moxie,
Thanks for your reply. That's kinda what I thought, but being curious me...I had to ask.
Stonemason...if you need me I'm in the kitchen.
Kali, consider my panties unbunched :)
Signed,
Prissy little Missy

"It is not what enters one's mouth that defiles that person; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one." -- Matthew 15:11
Okay, that probably doesn't help. I don't think Jesus was referring to cat poop.
Posted by: Kehaar at August 16, 2006 2:03 PM
And for what it's worth, well...Stonemason; he's a great guy and a better husband than the law should allow. 'nough said. Smile everyone and have a beautiful day!!!!
Posted by: Jamese at August 16, 2006 2:07 PM
Oh snap, could this be the prelude to the next Servile War?
Posted by: reagan80 at August 16, 2006 8:05 PM
Moxie, can you please scan the full page ad from today's LA Times -- the celebrities including Nicole Kidman who are condemning Hamas, Hizbo, and terrorism? No one seems to provide a list of all the signatories and people are very anxious to know. I have spent a half hour at the LATimes website looking for the ad to no avail. If you can't scan it, can you please find the complete list of names at least? Thanks.

Well now,
Thanks Jamese, I love you as well!
Oh, screw it...Starting over:
Hi Kali, how ya doin'? I'm an infrequent poster, drawn for the witticisms and ocaisionally I fall over a zinger myself. Pleased to meet ya...

Hey, I just got a great deal on some hot chick's kitchen sponge on EBay. WOW, it's complete with some blonde hair, some cat scat and what might be cheese!
I'm bidding now on her holistically made cat toys: they appear to be little brown mice with green stringy tails. What fun!
