Springtime for Hitler

It's the Pajamas Media of the restaurant world!

How could anyone in their right mind think that would be a good idea?

UPDATE: They are renaming the restaurant. May I suggest Open Source Eatery?

That's nothing: My favourite Deli is called "Osama's Sub," and for Chinese, you can't beat "Pol Pot's Wok"!

"The small restaurant, its interior done out in the Nazi colors of red, white and black...."

I've always thought the color scheme and symbols used by the United Farm Workers (Cesar Chavez's union) are eerily similar to those of the former National Socialist German Worker's Party. On the immigration issue, UFW/La Raza political rhetoric has begun to approximate that of the Nazis as well.

Gandhi argued that Jews shouldn't violently resist Nazis. His stature as a moral icon was never high in my book.

It takes no courage to commit civil disobedience against a liberal democracy.

What you are willing to die for is a lot less indicative of one's morality than what one is willing to kill for.

But since this, like the treatment of women in the Muslim world, doesn't help humiliate Bush, you won't hear squat from the left side of the political spectrum.

There are people who thought it was a good idea to erect a statue of Lenin in Seattle. It is a slap in the face of all Americans. Russians, too. And Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, Estonians, et al.

Alas, it fits the politics of the city.

The restaurant owners are definitely right about the true origins and nature of the swastika, and how it was hijacked by the Nazis for their own use. I would advise them to just keep the swastika and concentrate on rehabilitating that sacred symbol, as oppossed to leaving the impression that they are supporting Hitler. I know it would sure ruin my appetite to look up and see him staring down at me, no matter how good the food is.

Come on, Moxie--it could be a great idea! You don't want to hear conversations like this?

Hitler's Cross cashier: Welcome to Hitler's Cross. How may I execute your order?
Customer: Yeah, I'd like the Final Solution#3 with a Diet Coke.
Hitler's Cross cashier: Would that be Jew, Medium, Large or Reich-size?
Customer: Uh, Reich-size.
Hitler's Cross cashier: Anything else?
Customer: yeah, uh, one HitlerJungen meal--not the one with the Jr. Hitlerburger, but the one with the Chicken Sudenten-Fingers
Hitler's Cross cashier: Excellent. Anysink else?
Customer: Oh, yeah, an extra order of Fuhrer Fries, Jew-size
Hitler's Cross cashier: Ja. Your total is $8.76. Your order vill be ready in exactly 3 minuten. Sehr gut. Dachau for eating at Hitler's Cross.
Customer: Here--I'm paying in pennies.

Awww, it seems like this blond, blue-eyed Aryan blogger is jealous. What's the matter, folks? She doesn't like it when the brown people make a profit off of the master race's patriarchal icon?

Someone will end up buying all of the decor and establishing something like The Fourth Reich Bar And Grill.
