red turned blue coat

Maybe that makes me purple. It's all good.

Watch for a new header on Moxie in the next few days. It will please the left more than the right.

No, I'm still voting Republican, even if I have to vote for that Huckster, or magical underpants guy. But for my "friends" who hate me even more than my enemies, it might be interesting. If only they'd read their own friend's blog.

I've spent way too much time thinking about the conservative movement. Where we want to go, and why it's not working.

One thing is clear -- we don't want to succeed.

Conservatives have been water boarded by each other and no one will admit it. Right now, being a conservative is like being voluntarily trapped in Michael Moore's tighty whities after he ate a breakfast burrito with refried beans. The Santa Ana winds x 1,000. But you have some right-leaning web dweeb telling you, you should be there and "heh indeed". Or "Smell the whole thing."

My sense of smell tells me it's time to scram from the sinking ship, which doesn't stand for much of anything anymore.

If the right doesn't want me, I certainly don't want them. Fuck 'em where it hurts. In an airport men's room. Tapping foot and wide stance.

And let's say for fun, conservatives do want me, and are just too shy to say so -- I'd need to consider -- do I really want to be a member of a club that embraces Raj or InstaHeh? Do I want I be a part of a club whose members make me want to remove my eyes and ears with razor sharp Florida ballot chads?

Or excludes members based on how honest they are? Or how talented they are? How about a club that doesn't handle any sort or dissent at all?

No, of course not. That's not moxie, that's mousey. And it makes me uncomfortable.

Screw that. Hard.

If the right loses the White House in 2008, I won't cry.

"We" earned that loss by putting morons in the media. And by parading Democrats as Republicans, and by ignoring the big tent.

We earned that loss by not hiring new talent for the Half Hour News Hour. We earned that loss by forgetting the conservative and Republican half of the US, as the incredible and wonderfully diverse (and correct) part of humanity it is.

The right will lose because it has been greedy. And foolish. You need look no further than the best candidate. Duncan Hunter. Where is he?

Greedy magical protective underpants and Baptist ministers, and Democrats parading as Republicans have stolen the stage.

And guess what? I'll cheer for thick ankled Billary, when they regain the White House. Or when a nobody, without any experience, named B. Hussein takes over and I have to wear a burqa. We deserve that. Because it will take that big of a slap for anyone who cares about our country to wake up.

The people who don't care, will keep on keeping on, with their ass kissing and cock sucking and pajama nepotism.

I'll be laughing, with the left. And paying out the ass on taxes. Hopefully they will give me an entitlement so I can buy a hybrid that runs on Al Gore's noxious emissions.

xoxo,
purple mox

If, in your heart, you can find peace flipping over, go for it. Years ago, I tried my hand at being a professional musician. Same crap that you have seen. Compromise my principles? Are you nuts? Then reality bit me in the butt. I'm out of the business now and I'm at peace. Still no compromise and happy that ( turn on Sinatra voice ) "I did it my way" ( voice off ) I wish you peace and happiness Mox. We should all be that lucky.

Being blind to color, or even ignorant of what label to attach to each hue, makes one free of the burden of carrying a catalogue of swatches of everyone's socio-political decor. A water-colored candidate would be ideal, but such purity, clarity, and essential usefulness don't exist in American politics. There are no statesmen active in government today, only corporate toadies; they are all colored money-green.

Damnit, you should've never gotten that Mac.

THIS conservative wants you! ;)

Will the new header at least keep the boots?

Posted by: Alex at December 28, 2007 1:09 PM

Say it ain't so, Moxie...I know things aren't so bright on the right, but they're still way better than anything the left has to offer.

On the other hand, maybe if one of those (Democrat) loons end up getting elected, it will be the "wake up call" that this country needs -- which you so eloquently describe. It'll be a hard four years though...

Posted by: Marc at December 28, 2007 1:22 PM

Will the new header at least keep the boots?

I hope so. There are few things hotter. Even without anyone in 'em.

Posted by: Frank Black at December 28, 2007 3:31 PM

Maybe you could the intro line as the cure for douchebaggery. That give you open shots at everyone and not change your general bent. ( Billy Joel Voice )" I love you just the way you are"( voice thankfully off)

Love ya, Mox

Posted by: Alan at December 28, 2007 6:36 PM

Yeah, there's a remnant gathering out here. We're watching the implosion in slo-mo and given up trying to impede the process. The group think has reached impenetrable levels. A few stray lines that came to mind:

These boots are made for stompin'

Purple prose

The enemy of my enemy is usually another jackass

Go Moxie. You are an original and I'll always be interested in where your boots are walkin'.

"If the right loses the White House in 2008, I won't cry."

I'm not getting emotionally invested in this campaign season either. If Bush would have lost in '04, I would have immediately developed a case of Tourette's Syndrome. However, now, even I don't like the Bush administration that much anymore.

Regarding the PeeJamma's Me-Duh debacle, Moxie was the "John McCain*" of conservative blogdom. She didn't sugarcoat and told them straight up how it was, but only to be vindicated after being shunned by the "in" crowd for a couple years. (Yes, Mox, this was supposed to be a compliment.)

*McCain was calling for more troops in Iraq long before the administration finally implemented The Surge.

Cool. Give 'em (more) hell!

Posted by: evariste at December 29, 2007 9:13 AM

Be true to you, a party means nothing, especially the parties that stand for nothing.

I have a feeling you will still be voting, so it really matters little how you are registered or how you campaign.

As long as you continue to be Moxie, Beautiful and I will continue to drop in and read stuff!

Posted by: stonemason at December 29, 2007 5:38 PM

Mox, maybe you could style yourself an "independent conservative" like Jerry Doyle.

Posted by: Mike LaRoche at December 29, 2007 11:30 PM

It seems that more than just the political season has you in a funk.

Whatever it is that has you so down, I hope will vanish as quickly as it came. We all experience loads of crap in our daily lives and you openly and bravely share yours with the world.

I know you're not big on the big 'G', but I am, so I'm wishing the most I can...

God Bless. I hope all is well with you and soon.

Posted by: jmflynny at December 30, 2007 10:10 AM

Raj is a liberal who talks conservative because of the War on Terror. Glenn is a libertarian, not a conservative.

Also remember that conservative is a way of thought, not a political party.

The Republican Party truly is the lesser of two evils today. But when your only realistic choice is between two evils....

From my standpoint, you and Steve have really seemed to grow bitter and angry over the past year. You seem to be reinforcing each other. But then who am I to judge?

Well whatever you decide, I wish you a great 2008.

Posted by: gahrie at December 30, 2007 6:21 PM

I do whatever Moxie the Puppetmistress tells me. I am not in charge. I am just the evil on her periphery.

Sallyvee is right a lot. I hope she does not start a blog.

Posted by: Steve H. Graham at December 30, 2007 8:31 PM

We have Coburn and Inhofe so, for my state at least, I don't think I could be more pleased. I am also disappointed in the Republican's from other states. Inhofe is virulently anti-anthropogenic global warming Inhofe's latest
Coburn is the Anti-earmark guy. But these guys from all your other states are lame and pretty worthless. Where are the Bill Frist's? Congress is full of money grubbing wild spenders. It is insane. We have to start shrinking government. Let go of the Dept of Education, the NEA, PBS funding. We have to get serious about ending the war on terror and that means finding the will to clean out Waziristan in Pakistan. My senators do me proud. But the rest of them pretty much suck eggs.

Posted by: Bruce in Tulsa at December 31, 2007 5:30 AM

I am registered independent but I also accept a certain ampount of blame for the Clintons as I voted for Perot. But it doesn't mean I cannot learn.

Posted by: Bruce in Tulsa at January 2, 2008 5:05 PM

Just so you know, if I come back here one more time, and there's not a new header, I'm going to punch something.

Not that you'll be able to tell, of course, but believe you me, little missie, something will have been punched.

Posted by: Tanya at January 3, 2008 12:02 PM

Tanya, thanks for making me spit diet coke through my nose. The new header is in progress....I'm just slow!

Posted by: Moxie at January 3, 2008 12:08 PM

Better a liberty-hating, big-spending and ineffectual Democrat than another liberty-hating, big-spending Republican!

I'll always remember who you are on the inside.

Posted by: Bob at January 3, 2008 12:18 PM

I have this idea that the Republican Party is like a person with a multiple personality disorder. All these guys running for the top office now are symbolic of a fragmented personality, each one fighting with the other to come out on top of what is essentially a broken and hopeless life. The only major one of the candidates who comes closest to representing an all around, true conservative Republican, is Fred Thompson. And, from the looks of him, he seems to be suffering from acute clinical depression. Who can blame him?

Posted by: Patrick Kelley at January 5, 2008 12:31 AM

you make a vaild point. i have even considered raiding the dem primary and voting for hillary, just because i think she is more beatable. and despite her claims of 'change' (the general left platform), there's not any of them really looking to change anything except their own office.
